PLEASE ARRIVE 20 MINUTES EARLY ON YOUR FIRST VISIT
This is how much time is needed to sign-in, settle into the space and go through our welcome orientation. Keep in mind that we are located just off Whyte Ave, so allow time to find parking - click for our Google Map Parking options.
YOU DO NOT REALLY NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH YOU... UNLESS YOU NEED SPECIFIC PRODUCTS TO GET READY FOR ANY POST- FLOAT PLANS
Floating is best done naked and without a bathing suit. You are the only person in your private & lockable room, but using a clean bathing suit is optional though if that is your personal preference.
Towels and all the necessary amenities for the float are provided. We use Carina Organics for our soap, shampoo and conditioner - it's awesome stuff.
We have a vanity area in the back so you can get ready for any post-float plans. We provide a blow dryer, make-up remover, mirrors and q-tips. You are welcome to bring whatever you need to get ready afterwards.
WE KINDLY ASK FOR A NOTICE OF 12+ HOURS TO CANCEL OR CHANGE A BOOKING
Our entire float community thanks you for your consideration in providing at least 12 hours notice if you cannot make your scheduled float. Plenty of notice allows time for our floaters to book your vacant spot.
Please text 780.680.1337 or reply to your booking confirmation email to let us know of any change of plans.
AVOID EXPECTATIONS BY AVOIDING THE RESEARCH OF FLOATING
Why do we encourage this? The less you know and expect, the better your float will be.
Research could plant seeds of expectation as you discover the various amazing ways floating may benefit and improve your wellbeing. If you try to chase such benefits or experiences, there is a higher chance you will get in your own way
Go into every float without any expectations as much as possible and trust that we will be providing you with all the information needed to do this whole floating thing with confidence.
HAIR DYING AND FLOATING NEED TO BE PLANNED ACCORDINGLY
If your hair dye is not completely set, the salt water will fade your colour and bleed into our water :(
It is a lose-lose situation for both of us as we do not want our water to be contaminated at the expense of your hair color.
Please allow several washes of your hair before floating with us to ensure it is no longer bleeding. A swimmer's cap can be brought if it is not completely set and bleeding a very small amount (we have one available to borrow).
Not following this request could result in additional charges - please see our sign-in form.
BE MINDFUL OF YOUR HYDRATION LEVELS AND THE INTAKE OF CAFFEINE & STIMULANTS PRIOR TO FLOATING
Consuming too much liquid right before floating leads to distracting urges to the use the washroom during the experience. However being dehydrated is not a good thing either. You know your body best, so please be reasonably hydrated prior to floating.
The "high" of a stimulant (tea, coffee, pop, energy drinks, sugar, beer, wine, etc) can be disruptive to the float experience. Be considerate of your intake window prior to floating to avoid this distraction.
AVOID EATING A HEAVY OR FULL MEAL RIGHT BEFORE THE FLOAT
Experiencing hunger pangs during a float is distracting, but fullness and the digestion of heavy foods can also be disruptive.
Be mindful of what you are eating prior to the float and allow time for adequate digestion. Planning to enjoy a nice meal afterwards is always encouraged.
Having a simple, light, healthy snack before a float is welcomed and encouraged if you are concerned about being hungry.
SALT WATER CAN IRRITATE RECENTLY SHAVED AREAS AND FRESH CUTS & TATTOOS
Salt can "sting" a bit when it comes into contact with certain sensitive areas. It is recommended to allow a day between shaving any part of the body and your scheduled float.
If you are aware of a potential sensitive area, please follow the orientation instructions on using the provided vaseline.
If you do experience a stingy moment, the trick is to not pay any attention to it, as it will usually just disappear from your awareness after a couple minutes. The salt water is not harmful and does compliment the healing process.
To anyone with fresh tattoos, protect your investment by allowing whatever time it takes for the skin to fully heal before floating.
TOBACCO & CANNABIS CONSIDERATIONS
Another disruptive stimulant is tobacco, whether from vaping, chewing or smoking.
Avoiding this prior to your float is encouraged - use your judgement to determine how long this window must be for yourself.
As for Cannabis, some people like to explore pairing it with their float, however we do suggest doing your first couple floats without it in order to get used to the whole experience before exploring the two together. This is of course your choice. If you have any questions about pairing floating with other substances, please direct any questions to Dominic.
REMEMBER TO USE THE WASHROOM BEFORE GOING INTO YOUR FLOAT ROOM
The urge to use the washroom during a float is very distracting. Always use the washroom before entering your float room. Every room has an urgency robe for this specific reason in case you need to use the washroom during the float.
REMEMBER TO MUTE, AIRPLANE-MODE OR TURN-OFF YOUR PHONE WHILE FLOATING
This is quality time for yourself, plus our other floaters. I can promise you that there is nothing more distracting than hearing your phone notifications go off while you're floating.
AVOID THE DISTRACTION OF SCHEDULING OTHER COMMITMENTS TOO CLOSE BEFORE OR AFTER YOUR FLOAT
If you are rushing to get here or needing to leave quickly because of other engagements, this can distract from your experience.
If possible, we have found that doing even a little physical activity prior to your float, such as a walk, yoga, biking, running or a workout, can compliment the experience in a positive way. Even just a quick and easy walk beforehand will help you settle much easier into the experience. Parking a little further away will allow time for a short walk before your float. Use our parking map (click here) to strategize this.
BONUS
Techniques of meditation and prayer are fun to explore while floating in sensory deprivation. If you are not familiar with a technique, do not worry (they are not required). This video will give you a gentle introduction to meditation that you may choose to play with while floating.
